I started this blog in May 2007 and since then at various times I have felt the need to have greater control over the blog which WordPress.com doesn’t allow. Since I have no background in graphics and web design, I kept myself from moving to a self hosted blog. However, I have now decided to take the plunge and move the site to a hosting of my own and see how it goes.
During the next few hours the website may therefore be unavailable, links might not work or the layout might look messed up. Kindly bear with me. By the end of it, I hope to have all links, comments and posts intact. Meanwhile, this site will still continue to be available at vaibhavsharma.wordpress.com.
Hope to see you on the otherside.
One of the things I have been wanting to do for quite a while now is extensively try out the latest version of the multifaceted ‘Sports Tracker’ application. Like I’ve said earlier, since the time it first came out, it has undergone so much change and improvements that ’sportstracker’ is an understatement and well, a little misleading and because of this a lot of us fail to put it to its best use which is not sports but recording a trek/trip.
The lower range of the Himalayas is pretty near from where I live and the day before yesterday’s cloudy and windy weather was a perfect invitation in the otherwise sultry heat. So, I and a few friends decided to go uphill for lunch, a one and a half our drive. To give us company, we had a range of Nokia devices from the N78 to the E90 to the N82 and the E71. I did not have sportstracker installed on the N82, so I decided the N78 was going to be the phone for the job. (In the end, it proved to be a wise choice, reasons below.)

Ladies and Gentelmen Openatownrisk.com is back. What this means is that the elusive site is accessible once more so you can take a shot at watching the most insane video ever produced and also win an exclusive T-shirt if you are in the top 500. All you need to do is break four seals to unlock everything, simply breaking the first will give you access to the video.
This is where there is a huge glitch on Nokia’s part and I mean huge. The video that is supposedly in the Download! folder, which will help you unlock the seal, simply isn’t present on some phones like the E71. Fortunately I had my E90 and was able to get hold of it, for those of you who don’t have this luxury, I have uploaded it to Nokia’s very own Mosh. The other three seals require a webcam and the wallpaper and the ringtone and a mic. If you don’t have a webcam, a trial of Mobiola’s Web Cam application or WWIGO should help.
If you can’t seem to get hold of the wallpaper or the ringtone also, then you can find them here. It appears that there is still room at the top, I was able to be among the first 500 and I tried 5 minutes back. So get cracking before time runs out!
When word of the Nokia Pilots program first came out, I skipped writing about it for the simple reason that we didn’t know what it was going to be. Was it merely going to be access to alpha applications or was it going to be much more, the stuff of our dreams?
But having read this post by Mikko Lintunen of Nokia Pilots on the Beta Labs pages, I write this post as a Nokia fanboy who’s long time dream has just come true. Nokia Pilots is going to be big, selected ‘Pilots’ will have access to the latest concept devices that may only exist as protypes as well as trialling latest services and software. Stuff, that has NOT been publicly announced.

Ladies and Gentlemen it is my pleasure to present to you, what in my opinion is going to be the next killer application for S60 devices. In the comments section of the QWERTY v. T9 speed test article, Tim mentioned an application called T9 Nav which I have only been able to try it today and it has blown my mind.
T9 Nav is a mobile search application that lets you find anything on your phone by just typing in the first few letters of whatever you’re looking for. As soon as you press a number, it starts looking for anything on your device that matches the numbers or the letters on that key. For example if you press “2” it finds any contacts, calendar items, ringtones, applications, bookmarked websites or anything else beginning with 2, a, b or c. Read on for a complete run through.
